The Images provided on this webpage are from an actual issue of The Frisco Employes' Magazine of November, 1928

Frisco Employes' Magazine

We wish to express our appreciation to Darius Fish for donating this historic item to our museum

This magazine, which is in pristine condition can be viewed at the Chaffee Historical Society museum in downtown Chaffee

Note that the Frisco headquarters are in St. Louis and the company magazine is published in St. Louis also.
To be a railroader and work on the "Main Line", a quality watch was mandatory.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the first ad in the magazine is from a watchmaker.

Yes, it appears that there were car-train accidents in 1928 also.

Throughout the magazine (of over 70 pages) there are many, many news columns of the various departments in the various towns, like the one shown on the left.

This one is just the "Roundhouse" at Chaffee.  There are other columns of Chaffee railroad departments (Engineers, Firemen, Conductors, Brakemen,  Switchmen, Clerks, General Office news, etc.) but are not reproduced on these WebPages.  You must come to our museum to view them.

There are many other news columns of rail and family news of Chaffee employees in this one magazine.  Many old Chaffee names come back to life in these columns.

If you wish to see if an old relative or friend is listed in the magazine, or wish to read a little of our old railroad history from this time, make an effort to visit the Chaffee Historical Society museum.

The artwork for the cover of the November 1928 issue of the Frisco Employes' Magazine is appreciated more after you read the explanation of combining "symbolism with fact".

If the magazine staff produced such a quality magazine for all issues as they did for this one, they were certainly a talented bunch.

We only wish we had a complete collection of these magazines.

This magazine was donated (in May 2005) by Darius E Fish who presently lives in California, but grew up in Chaffee and his father worked for the Frisco.  Darius left our area in 1951.  He does, however,  have other family members who still live in this area
